It was a dark day as Little Mountain, a natural site in North Edmonton, fell to the greed of local developers. As these photos show, the trees were removed in a
wanton and destructive manner.
Concerned citizens and members of EFONES congregated to protest the area's destruction.
Among the protesters was Professor Jim Butler of the University of Alberta's Department of Renewable Resources. Women burned sweetgrass in a ceremonial offering to the land.
As these photos from September 1999 demonstrate, members of a local school science class made a field trip
to enjoy this forested area which is now lost forever.
